As
a result of the failure of the Erskine sub-sea pipeline, a Project
team was swiftly pulled together to plan a new pipeline to restore
the field to production.
Project Objectives
Individual
team development workshops were designed in order to address the following
key objectives:
To start One Team culture in the Project Team by bringing all
the project players together.
To make interdependent plans for each sub-contractor and agree
deliverables and deadlines across the entire Project Team.
To analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the Project Team
in order to establish the "Hot Spots" that would need
focused management.
To discuss and agree the different sub-teams roles, remit
and accountabilities.
To discuss and agree individuals 'expectations' of one
another, i.e.
Project Manager of Team Members
Team Members of Project Manager
Team Members of each other
Sub-teams of other sub-teams.
To get to know one another and have some fun together.
To agree and commit to the dramatically-reduced timescale for
delivery of the pipeline.
Project
Outcomes
The
investment in this start-up intervention enabled the creation
of a culture where none existed before:
Clear and realistic agreements on deliverables.
A Time Line that had the confidence of the team.
Agreed monitoring and review meetings and activities that would
track the project progress.
A deep understanding of the subgroup cultures, pressures and
problems that could impact the project.
A strong feeling of team spirit.
Agreement by all members that this was the best Project Start
that they had ever experienced.
